HI, I’M MICHELLE!
I’m a Certified Holistic Health Coach, pilates instructor, certified Master Bootybarre instructor, and one busy mom! My kids and I love spending time together with our fat little Frenchie, Rocco :), and I love everything about health, beauty and self development.
Helping others comes so naturally to me, and after spending years as a practicing ER nurse I found and fell in love with Pilates. I became an instructor, opened a studio and have been teaching for past 12 years. I have a passion for creating new movement sequences and programs, and you’ll often find me getting honked at when lights turn green because I’m daydreaming about new workouts!
Although I knew I was helping women feel better about themselves and their bodies, I also wanted to address other health issues I knew women are struggling with. This is when I discovered holistic health coaching and I knew this is what I was meant to be doing!
I want to share my own experience with you.
In my late 30’s, I was burned out, stressed out and running on fumes - and like most women, I ignored my body’s warning signs. After all, we have children to raise, households to run, jobs, soccer games and school fundraisers.
I told myself that most women my age feel this way, its normal.
This continued for two more years, until one day, the warning signs were no longer a whisper.
I was losing all my muscle, strength and stamina.
I couldn’t walk a flight of stairs without needing to stop and catch my breath.
I was pale and dizzy. My belly was constantly bloated, and no matter what I ate or how often, I was bone tired 24/7.
I also had a recurring mystery rash on my face, which was doing nothing for my already tanking self confidence.
I was stressed, overwhelmed, short with my children and could no longer see a light at the end of the tunnel.
After months of doctor’s appointments, I learned that I was anemic, I had SIBO and my hormones were totally out of whack.
I had hit my rock bottom.
It took several more years, multiple specialists, constant testing and a whole lot of trial and error and research, to finally figure out how to start getting back on track. And it all started with chronic, uncontrolled stress.
I understand just how deep a hole you can find yourself in.
I understand how many doctors want to throw prescriptions at you in an attempt to put a band-aid on your symptoms, instead of searching for the root cause.
I understand what it takes to heal, that everybody and every BODY is unique.
In addition to adjusting your nutrition, sleep cycles, fitness and stress-reducing lifestyle practices, you must learn how to change your mindset.
Without it, you will not achieve lasting change.
After experiencing my own health challenges with chronic stress and overwhelm, I now aim to help other women conquer these same battles.
Hormonal imbalances and gut dysfunction are serious issues for women who are faced with a myriad of stressors, such as balancing home and work life, trying to eat well, stay fit, deal with constant overwhelm and significant life events such as divorce, loss and career change.
By the time we realize something is wrong, we are deep into dysfunction and it takes a lot of time, effort and understanding to pull ourselves out of it.
I want to raise awareness of how our habits are contributing to this dysfunction so you can avoid the inevitable cascade of physical and emotional issues.
